The year is 2449. Human civilization as we knew it collapsed almost two hundred years ago. Climate change finally reaped what we had sown for centuries. The places we once called home were plunged under water. The Earth was transformed in a matter of months, with sea levels rising so rapidly that neither rich nor poor could escape. Instead, we built domes to protect what little was left. Though the hundreds of natural disasters wiped out many of us, the ones that survived did their best to emulate societies past, flaws and all. As soon as the new elites in society found their footing, they vaulted for the surface. Lacking soil and earth, sky-islands were made using various metals and synthetic materials, fitted with especially rare engines that would ensure their constant buoyancy. However, nothing is perfect and the drawback to their sky-land technology is beginning to pollute the water and erode the seafloor.
